Parks

Picture of Morning Cloud ParkThere are some 450 Hectares of public parklands and conservation reserves within the Municipality. This area comprises in excess of 200 individual sites which offer many high quality sporting facilities, passive recreational areas, playgrounds, cycle ways, impotent remnant bushlands and wetlands.

Of special significance within this City is the beautifully Canning River and the Canning River Regional Park, which provides much of the character of our Community. The River is the focus of many recreational activities particularly, canoeing, swimming, fishing, cycling and walking.

In recent years the Municipality has implemented a programme of streetscape enhancement intended to create a more attractive urban environment for residents and visitors. Many thousands of trees and plants have been planted along roadways, within street gardens and in association with various entry statements.

The Department has a highly qualified environmental rehabilitation team who work closely with community based Environment Groups which are actively engaged in conserving and enhancing the City’s unique environmental character.

Our efficient, courteous officers will be pleased to provide advice and information about the City’s parklands and related planning and horticultural matters. Contact them by telephone on 9231 0655, in person by coming into our administration building located at 1317 Albany Highway, Cannington or by E-mail at customer@canning.wa.gov.au
