Reserve an item
If the item you want is already on loan, you can place a reservation on it, and the library will send notification, either by mail or by email, if you have supplied your email address, when it is available for you. You can place a reservation at the library (either directly on a computer, or by filling in a request form), or by telephone, or by email, or click on Reserve an item in the online library system.
There is no charge for placing a reservation, but try not to reserve so many items that you won’t be able to borrow them all when they arrive!
Request an item on interlibrary loan
No library service will be able to hold every title which its members might want. If the title you require is not in the stock of any of our libraries, we may be able to request it on interlibrary loan for you. It may take some time, especially if the title must be sought from outside Western Australia, but patience is often rewarded.
Interlibrary loan requests may be placed at the library, by telephone, or by email.
There is no charge for interlibrary loan requests, but they can involve a lot of work, so please let us know as soon as possible if you no longer need a title you have requested.
Bestseller rentals
Riverton Library has a collection of the latest bestsellers, which are additional to the free loan copies of the same titles. If you don’t mind waiting for a free copy, you are welcome to join the reservation list. Alternatively, for a fee of $5.00, you can have a rental copy to read much sooner. The loan period is for one week. It’s much cheaper than buying the book yourself. The choice is yours!
‘Books on wheels’
If you live in the City of Canning, and for health reasons you are not able to visit the library yourself, you may be eligible to have books delivered to you at home. (You may also know someone else who may be eligible for this service). Books are delivered once a month, and you may request any particular subjects, authors or titles in which you are interested.
If you would like to register for ‘Books on Wheels’ please contact your nearest library .
