Reference Collections
All the libraries have collections of encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories and other specialised reference books to assist with research. Reference books are not available for loan, but you may photocopy sections or articles. Reference titles on CD-ROM are also held at all libraries. You can print articles from most of them.
Australian Bureau of Statistics publications
Riverton Library has a large collection of ABS statistical reports. In addition, you can also access an even wider range of ABS data via the internet from any library.
Internet access
You can browse the internet from computers at each of the libraries. There is no charge for information searching, but you must be a library member, and if you are under 16, your parent or guardian must give permission for you to use the internet. You can book an internet computer up to a week in advance, and book a maximum of one hour at a time. Booking in advance for after school or weekend times is strongly advised. You can download from the internet to print (black and white only), or to disc (bring your own, or buy one at the library). Each library also has a coin-operated internet kiosk, which you can use for email. No bookings are taken for the kiosks.
Help to find the information you need
Professionally qualified and trained staff are always available to help you find the subject or the title you need, or to get you started on an internet search. Please ask at the enquiries desk.
