Children
Weekly storysharing sessions are held in each library, to introduce preschool age children to the joys of books and libraries. Stories, rhymes, songs and craft, with an emphasis on sharing the fun. Storysharing is very popular and booking in advance is needed for some sessions. Click on News and Activities for more information.
- Queens Park library has a Bookworm Club which meets twice each term.
Riverton library holds after school events several times a year. These activities may include author or illustrator visits, guest storytellers or topical presentations by library staff. Special events are sometimes held in Children's Book Week (third week in August each year) or on other notable occasions.
Teenagers
City of Canning libraries provide a range of materials selected to appeal to a broad range of teenage interests. These include graphic novels, young adult novels, magazines, selected information books, CDs and DVDs. Check out the designated teenage space at Riverton library with its colourful banners and comfy chairs.
Adults/ Seniors
An occasional program of guest speakers runs in all libraries. Speakers may be authors, craft experts, or specialists on topics of general interest. Click on News and Activities to see what’s coming up.
