The history of Western Australia
The Local History collection includes an extensive collection of books on the history of Western Australia, and in particular the histories of different districts throughout the State. New books are added to the collection as they are published.
The history of the Canning district
Books, letters, photographs, maps and plans, oral interview records, newspapers, newsletters, and ephemera (posters, invitations, programs) all form part of the collection of information on our local area. Fragile materials are professionally preserved, and fully indexed to assist with research.
Local government archives
The public records of local government in Canning, including Council minutes and ratebooks are also held.
Donations wanted
To make the collections of local records as complete as possible, we need to include the documents and records of local groups, organizations and families. Photographs, newsletters, or other publications are always welcome. If donation of originals is not possible, we are happy to make copies.
