You must present a valid library card in order to borrow. Family members are welcome to use each others cards if they want to, but the card holder (or that person's parent or guardian) is responsible for any items borrowed on the card.

Loan limit

Up to 10 items, in any format (books, videos, jigsaws etc) may be on loan on your card at the same time.

Loan period

3 weeks for all items, but earlier return of items which are in demand (especially videos and DVDs) is much appreciated.

Renewing loans

If an item is not overdue, or requested by another borrower, it may be renewed for up to 2 further loan periods of 3 weeks, from the date that renewal is requested. You can renew loans by telephoning the library, or on the internet.  Click on the 'Your Records' button on the libraries home page.

Overdue loans

There is a fine of 20c per item per day (to a maximum of $2.00) for loans which are returned late. You may still borrow as long as your outstanding fines are not more than $10.00. If fines reach $10.00 or more, the whole amount owing must be paid before you can borrow again. An overdue notice will be sent by email on the first weekday after the loan becomes overdue, or by post on the first weekday after the loan becomes 3 days overdue.
Borrowing is not permitted if there are outstanding overdue items on your card.

Lost or damaged items

Items which are lost or damaged whilst on loan will be charged at purchase cost, plus GST. If you do not return a loan you will receive an invoice from the City of Canning.
