Working within the Curriculum Framework, programs are designed for both primary and secondary students.
“Testing, Testing, H2O” Fresh or salty? Warm or cold? Clear or murky? What do these factors tell us about the water in our rivers? A hands-on opportunity to answer these questions.
“Taking A Dip” Meet eye to eye with some of the many macro-invertebrates that live in our river system. Learn how their presence indicates the quality of the water.
“Catching Up” What does a water catchment do? Or even mean? How do events upstream change life downstream for all of us?
“Seeds of the Future” Learn about plant surveying and biodiversity while observing the important roles plants play in wetland survival.
“Threatening Our Wettening” What menaces does a wetland face? Take a guided tour of the Park and learn how small changes in our lives can have a major impact on our environment. |

“For The Birds” Students can enjoy exploring sections of the Park with binoculars, in order to “get close” to the many species of bird that make the Park their home. |
|
Sessions are composed of two programs, which run for around 90 minutes each, with a recess between. Sessions are priced at $8 per student, GST included. Teachers can tailor-make a program to suit their planning, be it for biodiversity, animal life, or simply a fun learning experience. While the Centre can accommodate ESL or other similar groups, not all parkland areas may be suitable for students with impairments. If you wish to visit the Centre before making a booking, please contact the Education Officer to arrange a time. All bookings are confirmed in writing. An excursion guideline package is available and can be emailed on request. |
