Welcome to the City of Canning’s state of the art recreation facility the Riverton Leisureplex, officially opened by the Mayor Dr Mick Lekias AM on 9 November 2001.
Situated on the corner of High and Riley Rds, the Leisureplex caters for the sporting, fitness and recreational needs of the City and its surrounding districts.
The Riverton site is a recognised community focal point with the City's library headquarters, arts centre, adjacent sporting fields and a district shopping centre nearby. Major arterial roads and a public transport system provide easy access.
“Community is very much at the heart of what the City of Canning is achieving with the Riverton Leisureplex,” Dr Lekias continued. “We have higher children and youth populations than is the average for the Perth metropolitan area. The site adjoins a primary school and there are 36 schools within five kilometres, educating over 22,500 students. The Leisureplex is providing an excellent facility for everyone within our City.”
The Riverton Leisureplex, open 362 days of the year, is the epitome of Council's commitment to providing a quality facility in a manner that is socially and financially acceptable.
