The Canning Transit Orientated Development (TOD) is one of the most significant investment opportunities in the surrounding region, situated across the road from the Cannington Train Station. Requiring an urban design and architectural approach, the site will be the first building visitors see when they arrive by train and is a major gateway of the Canning City Centre.
In close proximity to convenient amenities and services and less than a five minute walk to the Cannington Train Station, Sevenoaks Senior College, Cannington Leisureplex and potential Market Square, the TOD will boast a range of urban benefits.
Furthermore, the area will be within a ten minute walk of the Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre, Cannington Community College, Cannington Agricultural Showgrounds and Greyhound Racing Stadium. A slightly lengthier stroll will lead pedestrians to the Canning River foreshore parkland.
The TOD is set to become a predominantly a residential precinct with the intent of providing a range of housing designed for people who choose to live in a lively urban environment close to amenity and transport.
It is intended to optimise the number of apartments developed within a short walk to the railway station. Although largely a residential precinct, the TOD will include some mixed use, public open space and small convenience retail to the north to service the local community. An office, food and beverage focus to the south will include a variety of small restaurants, cafes and entertainment.
The main spaces will include:
- Canning Gateway Piazza;
- The Laneway; and
- The Urban Stream.
Ultimately, the TOD will provide a large variety of attractive spaces for a convenient, contemporary and vibrant Canning City Centre.
