Centenary Park (West)
Centenary Park (West) is a historical landfill site located adjacent to Centenary Avenue in Wilson. The site was used as a landfill site between 1973 and 1985. The City of Canning has maintained the site for many years, which included the removal of illegally dumped asbestos. During the maintenance works, the City installed a temporary barrier between the landfill contents and the ground's surface to shield the public from the contents. Further work is now required to install a permanent final barrier.
Work will be commencing on site in late April 2019. Centenary Park (West) will be closed to the public for the duration of the works. The City is expecting the site to re-open for public use in late 2020.
During the work, trucks will be delivering 23,000 cubic metres of sand onsite. Truck movements, motorist and path user safety are our priority and traffic controls may need to occur between 7am - 5pm Monday to Saturday during April, May and June.
