Need help taking the next business step?
Our Business Mentoring Program might be for you...
Whether you are starting out in your career or making changes to your business, having a mentor to lead you in the right direction is invaluable.
At the City of Canning, we recognise that not everyone has access to mentoring opportunities. This year, we are running a business mentoring program and will be sponsoring a number of participants to further develop themselves and their business.
As well as partnering with the Australian Institute of Management WA, Just Start It and Curtin University to provide access to their impressive mentoring programs, this year the City is also piloting two new programs - Plus Eight Sprint and SME Surge.
What does the program include?
Participation in one of our partner agencies mentoring programs.
The opportunity to choose the type of mentoring you think would suit you or your business needs best.
There’s no cost to you, but you do need to commit to the time involved which varies depending on the program you apply for.
How do I apply?

Spaces are limited – all applications are acknowledged and advised if they are successful/not successful.
What is the City's role?
The City of Canning’s role in the Business Mentoring Program is a facilitator – matching you (the mentee) with the agency providing the best mentoring opportunity.
The City is responsible for marketing and promoting the program, as well as sponsoring the cost of each successful mentee.
Partner agencies manage the application process as there are specific qualifying criteria associated with each program.
How is the program adding value to the community?
A mentoring program provides these benefits to the business community:
- promotes business leadership
contributes to growing business capability
strengthens the relationships between the City and individual local businesses/business people
builds the profile of Canning’s business community within the wider Perth business community
establishes and builds relationships between the City and Mentors.
