Dress code: Black-tie optional
We kindly ask that invited guests observe our Dress Code to maintain the sense of occasion that will make this gala event so special. Knowing what to wear can be difficult so we've provided the following information to help.
Ladies should wear full-length evening gowns, but an elegant and tasteful cocktail dress or formal pantsuit would be absolutely acceptable.
We would welcome the wearing of a tuxedo, but the wearing of a lounge suit (generally a darker suit in black, charcoal, or navy) would also be acceptable. This is a formal occasion and a necktie or bow tie is required.
How else can I contribute to the charity?
Contributions to Good Sammy can be made by:
- Becoming an event sponsor
- Donating an auction item
- Providing an ‘in-kind’ donation of goods or services to help us to off-set the cost of staging the event
- Buying a corporate table of 10 and invite your key client
- By making a direct donation

A message from the Mayor
I am very proud to announce the City of Canning’s inaugural 2022 Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner - the first time a Western Australian local government district has partnered with its business community to deliver a gala civic event with a charitable purpose.
The Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner serves as a wonderful opportunity to network with like-minded businesses and, by sponsoring the event, enhance your company’s image and reputation as a philanthropic leader in the corporate sector.
By partnering with the City of Canning, your sponsorship will provide vital support to a local Western Australian grassroots charity, and it will directly help people and families dealing with Canning’s biggest social challenges.
I am also immensely pleased to announce that funds raised at the event through donations, ticket sales and auctions will support Good Sammy, a wonderful Western Australian charity, based right here in the City of Canning.
Good Sammy, is a highly respected grassroots charitable organisation and has been providing support and meaningful employment pathways for Western Australians with disability since 1958.
Currently supporting more than 250 people with disability in the workforce, Good Sammy aims to create and support twice this number by 2025, and your generous support as a sponsor of this event will help them to achieve that goal.
Since my election as Mayor in 2019 I have been privileged to work alongside dedicated and passionate corporate citizens like you, who share a common vision to improve the quality of life and standard of living for those in our community who are marginalised and experiencing abject hardship.
If you would like to learn more then please contact Mhairi Warne (pronounced Vari) in the Office of the Mayor directly on 0418 234 166 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Why get involved?
Contributing to a charity is a wonderful way for a business to exercise corporate social responsibility by contributing to social issues, while enhancing corporate brand exposure – a win-win for all!
The City of Canning’s inaugural 2022 Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner provides a conduit for businesses and stakeholders to contribute to Good Sammy who make a significant social impact in the Canning community.
Good Sammy, located in Canning, undertakes invaluable work in the local community. Not only does Good Sammy provide services that improve employment outcomes and inclusion for people with disability, they also delivers critical services to the community through their 26 Op Shops and recycling (clothing and container) programs. This helps divert millions of kilograms of items from landfill every year. You can find out more about Good Sammy here
The impetus for the Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner is anchored in conditions brought on by the current economic climate where the effects of COVID-19 and cost of living pressures have left many in the local community struggling financially. Now the opportunity exists for your business to contribute to alleviating the problem.
Contributions for the Mayor’s Charity Gala Dinner can be made by either selecting from a platinum, diamond or gold sponsorship package, donating an item for a live auction and raffle or, by donating directly to the charities. And in return for sponsorship, businesses will be recognised in various event communications channels to ensure businesses receive the recognition they deserve!
Sponsorship packages will contribute to the event cost. Funds raised from ticket sales, auction and raffle items will be donated to Good Sammy.
