Community Ride Program

The Community Ride program teaches volunteers how to develop, implement and facilitate their own social rides. It creates champions in the community who further promote riding a bicycle by actually organising their own rides. This can include bike to work, school or uni buses.

This program runs over three weeks:

  • Session one focuses on identifying other riders’ skill levels, how to plan a safe ride and assess and mitigate potential risks, developing and implementing communication when riding as a group or family.
  • Session two focuses on trouble-shooting hardware during rides like punctures, chains, gears and how to assess potential problems of others’ equipment. Bring your own bike (or let us know you need one to work on).
  • Session three puts the learned skills of session one and two into practice via a social ride. Bring your own bike (or let us know you need one to ride on).
Please note: This course is designed for participants to attend all sessions to get the most out of it. We understand that this may not be possible for everyone and do not wish to deter you from attending. Please feel free to sign up to the sessions that you can.
