Mid Week Eats - Oriental Banquet

A free, six part food truck series celebrating culture and community, while creating a vibrant hub to spend time with friends and family. Nestled among the trees, each week experience a new theme with a range of live performances and music.



Celebrate the colour and culture of Asia with a delectable banquet of dumplings, bao buns, Chinese BBQ, pork buns and bubble tea.  ​

Performing the mesmerising completely authentic and traditional Lion Dancing in and around Western Australia since 1995, the Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chai Academy comprise of professional martial artists and students alike. 

The auspicious Lion Dance is believed to bring good luck, prosperity and happiness to communities, businesses and individuals.

Taiko On!
The name is not only a team cry to strive and put all of one’s energy and focus into the drums, but the Japanese characters also resonate with the meaning “Sound of the Drum” 
The members of this dynamic troupe have drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds and come together to study and display their love of the Japanese drums to the wider Perth audience.

Plus roving entertainment from Enchanted Characters!


This week we welcome the Eco Faeries! Jump, swirl and shake it out in the Kids Village Energiser Zone.
The faeries bring a treaure trove of fun for all the kids to enjoy. Activity toys range from handmade hoops to quality actie play gear - there's endless games to share!

What do I bring?
Bring your own picnic and beverages, or purchase something from one of the many tasty food trucks
Seating - including camp chairs and picnic blankets
Mosquito spray and a jumper for when the breeze comes in!
Dogs as long as they are on a leash

What is provided?
Limited picnic tables, beanbags and other furniture
Parking and Bike Racks
Live music and entertainment
13 - 15 food trucks per week

How do I get to Riverton Reserve?
Mid Week Eats is located at Riverton Reserve next to the Riverton Leisureplex at 67 Riley Road.
Free parking is available at the Leisureplex facility. Additional parking is also available at Stockland Riverton, which is a 6 minute walk (500m) away.
Bike racks will be available in the overflow car park.

Is the event accessible?
ACROD parking and accessible toilets are available as well as additional facilities inside the Leisureplex (please note this building closes at 8:30pm)

We all love our fur babies and dogs are certainly permitted at Mid Week Eats, however please ensure they remain on a leash at all times. Given the number of small children and other dogs, we recommend only social/well behaved pups.

Food/Dietary Requirements
Should you have any specific dietary requirements, we recommend you check out the Facebook page or this page where each food truck will be listed. You can jump onto their pages and peruse their menu.
We will do our best to ensure we cater for vegan, vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free options.
It is the customer's responsibility to ensure they check that their food choices suit their diet.

First Aid
St John Ambulance will be onsite if you require medical attention. 

Lost property
Lost property will be collected and stored with the City Events Team. Any lost property not collected will be available at the City of Canning Civic Centre and you can ring us on Friday to see if we have your lost items.

In the event of bad weather, please check the City of Canning Facebook page where we will update you with any changes or cancellations. You can also subscribe to any updates by selecting 'Going' or 'Interested' on the Facebook event.

There will be no ATMs on site but all of our vendors have EFTPOS facilities if you are looking to purchase food and drink.

Everything onsite is FREE besides the food trucks of course! If you would like to purchase from the food trucks, they accept cash or EFTPOS.

Photography and Videography​
We will have event photographers and videographers documenting the event. If you do not want your photo taken, please let the camera person know.
