Over $270,000 has been awarded to date to community clubs, sporting groups and community members during the 2017/2018 financial year.

This was used to assist sporting clubs, community clubs and community members:

  • Purchase new equipment
  • Hold community events
  • Implement community initiatives
  • Develop arts and culture programs
  • Conduct events and festivals that were free, inclusive and accessible to all community members
  • To provide training and personal development opportunities of their volunteers
  • Help young people attend competitions relating to sporting, cultural or academic achievement
  • Develop sport and recreation facilities

Young People Fly High

The Young People Fly High Grant assists young people under the age of 25 to attend competitions relating to sporting, cultural or academic achievement.



Small Community Grants

This grant supports low cost and quick turnaround initiatives through out of round funding that is offered throughout the year.


Volunteer Support Grants This grant supports the training and development of volunteers to improve skills and knowledge. $500 $2,448

Sport and Recreation Equipment Grants

Funding available to not-for-profit organisations towards the purchase of durable equipment which will encourage increased participation and/ or improve the sporting experience for members.



Community Equipment Grants

Funding available for durable equipment which will help not-for-profit organisations deliver local community services.



Community Initiatives Grants

Funding available for initiatives which address community issues (such as safety, community sustainability, accessibility etc)



Arts and Culture Grants

Funding available for initiatives which encourage increased community participation in arts, cultural activities and new or enhanced art.


Events and Festivals Funding available for community events and festivals which take place in the City of Canning, are free to the community and inclusive and accessible to all. $5,000 $12,187

Sport and Recreation Facilities Grants

Funding available to incorporated not-for-profit organisations towards the development of sport or recreational facilities to increase participation through good quality, well designed and well utilised facilities.
