The City of Canning assists in the management of five Bush Forever sites of regionally significant, native bushland within the Perth metropolitan area.
With a vision of conserving our biological diversity, Bush Forever is the strategic plan for the conservation of bushland on the Swan Coastal Plain. It is a world-class plan in Australia’s only global biodiversity hotspot. Bush Forever environments provide protection for remnant vegetation and provide important habitat for wildlife.
Within the City of Canning, Bush Forever sites include the Canning River Regional Park, McDowell Street Bush Plan, Queens Park Regional Open Space, Yagan Wetland Reserve and parts of Jandakot Regional Park. The Bush Forever plan aims to protect and manage significant bushland areas by ensuring they are considered in land-use planning and decision-making.
