Vehicles that are unlawfully parked, causing an obstruction or abandoned may be impounded by the City of Canning.

The City's Ranger and Community Safety Service Officers investigate reports of abandoned vehicles to determine what action is required. Every attempt is made to contact the owner prior to impounding the vehicle.

To find out if your vehicle has been impounded or to report an abandoned vehicle, please contact the Ranger and Community Safety Services on 1300 422 664.

In the event that an impounded vehicle has not been claimed by the lawful owner after three months (90 days) Council may arrange for the vehicle disposal by means of a vehicle tender process.

Vehicle Tender Process

Vehicles are held for a minimum of 60 days and then if not claimed, put up for Tender. Tenders are held approximately every 60 days depending on the number of vehicles held in the Impound yard. The City of Canning advertise in the Saturday West Australian in the Local Government Tender Section. The advert will contain all relevant information including viewing times and Tender process.

If you are wishing to purchase a vehicle, you are required to follow the online Tender process, which can be found here.

To view a list of the vehicles up for tender, visit the West Classifieds. To view the City of Canning Tenders, search 'City of Canning' in the search field.
