Artist and students collaborate and paint a new mural at Coker Park

Canning Mayor Paul Ng officially launched the new urban art mural at the Coker Park Sports Pavilion on the 4 December 2018.

This City of Canning initiative aims to decrease graffiti incidents at Coker Park and the immediate surrounds and was made possible through the WA Police Force State Graffiti Fund.

The beautiful mural was collaboratively designed and painted by local artist Mel McVee and the Year 10 students of the Cannington Community College.

Throughout the project the City worked with WA Police and the State Graffiti Task Force to provide graffiti education to students of the Cannington Community College. Helping to raise awareness around graffiti vandalism and associated consequences, and the difference between graffiti and urban art.

The City wishes to thank the people and organisations who collaborated to make this project possible, and acknowledge WA Police and the State Graffiti Task Force who helped guide the graffiti education component of this project.

The City of Canning’s Your Say page aims to keep you informed and provides opportunity for you to have your say regarding this project and/or other opportunities for future initiatives.
