Canning Libraries are holding the first Young Minds Short Story Competition!

Young people in years 7 to 12 are invited to submit a short story of 700 words or less. The story must be an original interpretation of the 2020 Children’s Book Week theme “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds”.

Entries open 15 June to 31 July 2020

Prizes

The winner from each category will receive a gift card to the value of $400.

Additionally on Saturday 24 October 2020 at Riverton Library, the top eight shortlisted entries and winner from each category will be invited to attend a day involving:
 
  • Winner’s presentation and morning tea
  • Writing workshop with author and guest judge Holden Sheppard
  • Drawing workshop with WA Illustrator Gavin Aung Than

The top eight shortlisted entries will also have their story published on the City of Canning website.
