Nearer to Nature's school holiday programs at the Canning River Eco Education Centre provide unique, enjoyable activities that help children discover intriguing natural areas.

During the school holidays, fun, hands-on activities bring kids of all ages up close and personal with the natural environment.

Nearer to Nature’s overall aim is to increase the community’s environmental awareness, knowledge and skills, including the related heritage of Indigenous and European cultures.

Squelching Through Swampland

Tuesday 9 July
10 - 11.30am, ages 4 – 7 years
Delve into the world of our swamp-land dwellers, they are unique with their extra special propellers. Squelch through our swamps, play the turtle game, make some watery craft, you’ll be glad you came.

1 – 3.30pm, ages 8 – 12 years
Become a scientist as you search for fascinating swamp dwellers. Then have a close-up examination to create a scientific drawing of your critter.

Animal Trails
Thursday 18 July
10 - 11.30am, ages 4 – 7 years
Come join us on a hunt to look for signs of animal trails. Bring out your inner mini detective, collet the clues and discover what animals are hiding in the environment.

Seize and Capture
Thursday 18 July
