School holiday programs at the Canning River Eco Education Centre provide unique, enjoyable activities that help children discover our natural areas.

During the school holidays, fun activities bring kids of all ages up close and personal with the natural environment. 
These community programs are brought to you by Know Your Patch, Nearer to Nature and River Guardians. Each activity provides hands-on opportunities for kids and adults to discover and explore more about their local environments.

Estuary Expedition
9.30am-2.00pm, ages 11-14
Join us for an expedition of the beautiful Canning River. We will practice some canoeing skills with fun challenges before we set off downstream to explore this incredible environment. Then we will go in search of the local wildlife as we investigate this diverse ecosystem from the water. On the journey, learn how to identify elusive species and find evidence that they leave behind. Finally, learn how to protect this precious estuary and put your new skills into practice! With River Guardians and Nearer to Nature.

Dolphin Discovery
9.30-11.00am, ages 4-7
Get to know the dolphins that call the Swan River home through interactive games and activities. Listen to the sounds dolphins make and learn how their bodies help them swim, jump and catch food, then play a game to show us your best dolphin impression! have a go at identifying the Swan River dolphins using our FinBook guide, and then go on a walk along the river to see if you can spot them. Discover some of the things that can hurt our dolphins and what we can all do to keep them safe. Finish the morning by decorating your dolphin craft. With River Guardians.

Habitat Heroes
12.30-3.00pm, ages 7-12
Discover how some key, local species survive in their habitat as we journey around Canning River Regional Park in search of the perfect shelter for the animals. What makes the perfect habitat and how can animals adapt when this perfect habitat is no longer available? With Know Your Patch.
