Seasonal hire of sports grounds

Our sports grounds are available for use by local clubs based on a seasonal expression of interest process. If you are a new club to Canning looking for a seasonal ground allocation, it is recommended you contact our Actives Spaces (Recreation) Officers prior to making an application, to discuss ground suitability and availability. To make an application for this 2020/2021 Summer Season, complete the application forms and provide the information listed under Application Requirements below. Please send all documents to bookings@canning.wa.gov.au no later than Friday 7 August 2020. Preference will be given to applicants who had been granted seasonal access in the preceding year, and the next preference will be given to local organisations and then all other applications will be considered and provided for subject to availability.

TIMELINE FOR SEASONAL APPLICATIONS

Summer Season 10 October 2020 to 28 March, 2021
Expression of Interest period opens Monday 13th July 2020 and closes Friday 7 August 2020
Allocation of grounds will be notified to Clubs no later than the Friday 4 September 2020

Winter Season 3 April 2021 to 26 September, 2021
Expression of Interest period opens Monday 14 December 2020 and closes Friday 29 January 2021
Allocation of grounds will be notified to the Clubs of no later than the Friday 5 March 2021

Pre-season Training

Applications for pre-season training will be accepted when the seasonal application process commences. Pre-season training for summer clubs can commence in September and pre-season for winter clubs can commence in March, subject to the current season club commitments and the City's maintenance schedules.

Access to grounds for practice matches is limited as the installation of season-specific equipment will not commence until the essential ground maintenance period. Applications for practice matches prior to or during the essential maintenance period will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact your Active Spaces Officer to discuss.

Essential ground maintenance closures will occur in or around the period last week of September to the first week of October and the last week of March to the first week of April (Subject to change).
