Swimming lessons for school-aged children are skills-focused and outcome based.

School-aged lessons

30 minute duration; 6 years and up, 6 per class

Experienced AUSTSWIM staff ensure innovative lessons promote water safety and enjoyment. The year-round program allows the child to continue building their abilities with constant reinforcement and repetition without the regression found in seasonal programs. Progression through the levels is equivalent to and recognised by the education department, making it user friendly for all. Unsure of the correct level to enrol in? We offer free 10-minute swimming assessments to evaluate skills so your child is enrolled in the correct level to achieve the most from their lessons. Click here to book an assessment online.

Lifesaving and Rescue Awards

These awards focus on skill development accompanied by judgment and initiative.  A continuation from Riverton's school age curriculum, Swim and Survive provides a broad, balanced program of swimming, water safety and survival skills. The program builds confidence and endurance. These stages will be run in conjunction with the Junior Lifeguard Club.

Junior Lifeguard Club

8 swimmers per class

Our Junior Lifeguard Club offers a unique opportunity for students to combine their swimming with lifesaving knowledge and put both in to practice within classes.  Students will complete the required skills to achieve their current stage. We run social events and participate in carnivals with other Junior Lifeguard teams.

Junior Swim & Survive: Stage 10
Swim & Survive: Stage 11
Senior Swim & Survive: Stage 12
Wade Rescue: Stage 13
Accompanied Rescue: Stage 14
Bronze Levels: Stages 15, 16, 17

Teens

We recognise the need to treat teenagers not as the children they were, but as the young adults they are becoming.

Our experienced teachers understand that no teenager would be comfortable learning how to swim in a beginners’ class with much younger children.

Our teenage program is designed for students aged 12 – 18 years and focuses on water confidence, safety practices and stroke development:
• Teen Beginner: learning to be safe and confident in the water
• Teen Intermediate: learning the fundamentals of key strokes
• Teen Advanced: learning stroke development and efficiency
