Riverton Leisureplex Gym Change Room and Wellness Suite Refurbishment

Riverton Leisureplex gym change rooms and Wellness Suite are undergoing a major upgrade that will see improvements made to equipment and facilities.

Works will commence in the Wellness Suite on Sunday 22 December 2019 from 1pm and will reopen on Monday 10 February 2020.
Construction will commence on the gym change rooms on Monday 10 February 2020 and the change rooms will reopen on Monday 11 May 2020.

Why is Riverton Leisureplex gym change rooms and wellness suite being redeveloped?
In 2019, the Riverton Leisureplex gym received significant upgrades. The refurbishment has been completed and the gym is fully operational. Further upgrades to the gym and hydrotherapy suite change room and toilet facilities have been identified as critically important to the success of the relaunched gym and fitness facility.

The current spa is 18 years old and requires significant ongoing maintenance and repairs. The spa jets are not operating efficiently, which is impacting the customer’s experience. The spa tiles are stained and sections of grout and expansion joins are missing, despite regular shutdowns to address the decline in previous years. The works will result in a cleaner, well maintained and modernised facility and enhance our customer’s experiences.

The existing Riverton Leisureplex change rooms are too small with staff receiving regular requests from customers for larger change rooms.

What is changing with the refurbishment?
  • Gym change room extension and refurbishment – adding extra showers and changing space. Includes full tile replacement of floor and wall tiles, new vanities, basins and tapware, new shower partitions and seating areas
  • Converting physio and massage room into family change areas
  • Spa re-tiling and repairs to spa pipework to improve jets – involves removing all tiles in the spa and replacing with new tiles
  • Replacement of the therapy pool floor and walls
  • Re-lining of the balance tanks
  • Mechanical services works to improve ventilation
  • Painting
  • Door and door hardware works
  • Sauna and steam room refurbishment
  • Servicing of pool plant equipment
  • Servicing of disability hoist equipment
  • Minor maintenance on various items
