Riverton Leisureplex is undergoing a major redevelopment that will see an upgrade to equipment and facilities.
Construction will commence on Monday 29 April 2019 and the gym will reopen on Monday 24 June 2019.
The re-opening of the Riverton Leisureplex gym will be delayed until Monday 24 June 2019.
Why is it happening?
Unfortunately there has been a delay in the delivery of the flooring meaning that the gym will not be ready for opening on the 3 June as originally planned. The flooring is coming via sea transport and the delay is out of our control.
Why is Riverton Leisureplex Gym being redeveloped?
It has been 16 years since major work was completed on the gym space. The redevelopment is set to position the centre as an innovative fitness destination with the introduction of new equipment, functional training areas, a personal training studio, body composition scales and a spin studio.
What is changing with the refurbishment?
- Facility upgrades – new flooring, improved music system and the introduction of MyWellness, an exciting new fitness management system
- Introduction of a personalised fitness app
- Painting and other cosmetic works
- Electrical and communication works to connect cardio equipment to network
- Introduction of new functional training and stretching areas
- Full equipment replacement with Technogym strength and cardio equipment
- Body composition scales
- Minor construction works
- New spin studio
- Introduction of WiFi connectivity.
When will construction start?
Construction is scheduled to commence on Monday 29 April 2019.
When will the refurbishment be finished?
All work is expected to be complete by 24 June 2019.
When will the gym re-open?
The gym will re-open on Monday 24 June 2019 at 6am.
Will the construction work impact parking available at Riverton Leisureplex?
There will be minimal disruptions to parking as equipment and construction materials are being removed and delivered.
What are my training options during the gym closure?
All members are encouraged to take advantage of the facilities at Cannington Leisureplex.
Our group fitness timetables across both centres are unaffected and we have more than 80 classes per week on offer. We encourage members to continue their fitness focus by attending these classes.
Any member wishing to put their membership on hold and not use any of the facilities during the gym closure can put a time stop on their membership. The $5 time stop fee will be waived during this period. All time stops need to be requested by completing a time stop request form (available at main reception).
When the gym is closed, can members extend their memberships?
Membership suspensions will automatically extend to the new date for any members who chose the hold option; and as a show of good faith, we will also be extending everyone’s membership by 3 weeks.
Will the redevelopment affect the pool facilities and classes at Riverton Leisureplex?
The pool is not affected during the redevelopment works.
There will be no impact on group fitness classes during the works.
Will the redevelopment affect access to the Wellness Suite?
In the interest of safety for all, the hallway access to the wellness suite will be closed during the works. Access to the gym change rooms will still be available from the wellness suite.
Alternative access points will be defined and provided to allow access to the wellness suite.
All customers wishing to access the wellness suite will need to enter via the main reception and follow directional signage which will be displayed throughout the pool hall.
Pram and wheelchair accessibility is available. Please follow signage and staff instructions.
