Gaining Strength for Life

You’re never too old to start investing in your health and wellbeing. Our Strength for Life program offers a variety of fun and fitness in a social environment. Members start with a personalised strength training program and progress with the guidance of our qualified trainers.

Gordon, a member of our Strength for Life program and regular attendee at Cannington Leisureplex, has this to say about this special program, designed especially for the over 50s; “To anyone thinking of joining the Strength For Life program, do it! The benefits are enormous - not only from a fitness view point but also from a social aspect.” He also adds that the program is affordable and "healthy for your hip pocket".

“Apart from the obvious physical health benefits, the mental health benefits are enormous. Many of us have formed a great network of friends who gather for a tea or coffee and a chat after our workouts and some social interactions even extend outside of the centre.“

“The staff and fellow gym "buddies" are always there to help. It might be with the way you are doing your workout, from the positioning of your body to the height of where you're sitting, there is always someone to lend a hand.“

The program focuses on getting more seniors into the gym environment, completing a structured strength routine designed specifically for their needs. The Council on Ageing WA's Strength for Life program at Cannington and Riverton Leisureplex offer award-winning senior fitness services and solutions catering to people 50 years of age and over.
