Does your sporting facility need an upgrade or some maintenance? We can help.

Our goal is to develop and grow sport and recreation participation through good quality, well-designed, and well-utilised facilities.

If your facility needs some improvements, apply for our grants program.

Facility Grants

The City’s Sport and Recreation Facilities grant provides funding to incorporated not-for-profit organisations towards the development or upgrade of facilities.

The grants are available for developments located on Council owned or managed land within the City of Canning.

Clubs must liaise with the City of Canning’s Grants Officers and the Active Spaces team prior to commencing the Sport and Recreation Facilities Grant process. This is to ensure proposals meet legislation requirements and the City’s strategic needs.

Visit the Sport and Recreation Facilities Grants page to learn more.

What types of projects are the grants available for?

Types of facility projects that can be funded by our grants program include:

  • Change rooms and ablutions.
  • Floodlighting projects.
  • New playing surfaces – ovals, courts, synthetic surfaces.
  • Sports storage.
  • Clubrooms including social space, kitchen, administration areas and viewing areas. Please note that these areas have a minimal impact on physical activity and would be considered a lower priority.
  • Resurfacing of existing sports surfaces. It is expected that club and facility managers will budget for these items as part of the ongoing operation of the facility, so these applications will be considered a low priority for funding. If supported a resurfacing project may attract a reduced funding percentage.

Clubs can also apply for funding from alternative sources to help strengthen the financial contribution towards a proposal.
