Celebrate 150 years of Canning!

2021 marks 150 years since the first local government was elected in Canning. We will be hosting more neighbourhood community events, celebrating people in our community doing great things and reflecting on the stories of our past that have created the wonderfully diverse City we enjoy today and are building in the future

Carols by Candlelight
Saturday 11 December 2021

Featuring the Canning City Brass Band, Rossmoyne Community Singers, Avenue Jazz Band plus special guests, singalong to classic and new carols with roving entertainment plus kid's craft activities amd delicious food trucks. This event takes place each December in the Civic Amphitheatre in Cannington.

Australia Day Family Fun Day
Wednesday 26 Jan 2022

A community brunch to celebrate everything that's great about being Australian. The event will comprise of a free sausage sizzle for the first 200 attendees, fun water amusements, sporting activities, traditional Aussie games, set to a backdrop of cool live Aussie music. 


 

Mid Week Eats
February 2022

A delectable and mouthwatering display of WA's best food trucks across 3 weeks, with roving and live entertainment in a gorgeous outdoor setting.


 

Muddy Hands Festival
November 2022

An event to encourage children and families to enjoy playing outdoors and being among nature, bringing unstructured play into their everyday lives. Build cubbies, enjoy mud play, nature crafts and more!


 

ANZAC Day March & Service
Sunday 25 April 2021

Run in partnership with the Canning Sub-Branch Returned Services League, the City welcomes all to join a traditional and memorable morning service to commemorate our brave soldiers and their families

Reconciliation Week Walk
Sunday 29 May 2021

Enjoy a short 4km walk of the The Butterflies, Birds and Bridges Loop leaving from Kent Street Weir bridge. Along the way learn some basic Noongar words and phrases, and enjoy an area rich with history and nature.

Canning Art Awards
20 to 29 August 2021

The Canning Art Awards welcomes all Perth artists to submit their works across multiple categories, with the chance to win cash prizes and have their work displayed in the Riverton Library.

Youth Fest 
Friday 9 April 2021

A free event for young people aged 11-18 with a tonne of activities, games, competitions and cheap eats. Held by the City's Youth Services Team.

WA Day Fireworks Bonanza
Monday 7 June 2021

A numner of coordinated fireworks displays will light up the night sky in the City of Canning on Monday 7 June, as part of WA Day celebrations. Enjoy a family picnic, or have a barbecue in your driveway before the big show.
