The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way the City plans for large-scale events such as NYD. The health and safety of our community is our highest priority. The nature of the event site at Shelley Beach Foreshore and the high number of anticipated attendees create significant challenges in adhering to current health advice, including managing physical distancing.
A series of community focused, family friendly events back to a number of our awesome parks and reserves.

Carols by Candlelight
Featuring the Canning City Brass Band, Rossmoyne Community Singers, Avenue Jazz Band plus special guests, singalong to classic and new carols with roving entertainment plus kid's craft activities.
Family Fun Day - January 2021
The City of Canning is hosting a community brunch to celebrate everything that's great about being Australian. The event will comprise of a free sausage sizzle for the first 200 attendees, fun water amusements, sporting activities, traditional Aussie games, and local stalls set to a backdrop of cool live Aussie music.

Muddy Hands Festival - February 2021
An event to encourage children and families to enjoy playing outdoors and being among nature, bringing unstructured play into their everyday lives. Build cubbies, enjoy mud play, nature crafts and more!

ANZAC Morning March & Service - April 2021
Run in partnership with the Canning Sub-Branch Returned Services League, the City welcomes all to join a traditional and memorable morning service to commemorate our brave soldiers and their families

NAIDOC Week Walk - returning 2021 date TBC
Enjoy a short 4km walk of the The Butterflies, Birds and Bridges Loop leaving from Kent Street Weir bridge. Along the way learn some basic Noongar words and phrases, and enjoy an area rich with history and nature.
Canning Art Awards - returning 2021 date TBC
The Canning Art Awards welcomes all Perth artists to submit their works across multiple categories, with the chance to win cash prizes and have their work displayed in the newly refurbished Riverton Library. Click here to see a list of the 2019 winners!
Youth Fest - returning 2021 date TBC
A free event for young people aged 13-17 with a tonne of activities, games, competitions and cheap eats. Held around Willetton each year with local service providers and our awesome Youth Services Team. Until then, check out Willetton, Lynwood or Bentley Youth Centre!
