The City of Canning’s activity centre, local structure plans and local development plans indicate broad land use options for the development and subdivision of land.

Activity centres are vibrant hubs where people shop, work, meet, relax and often live. Usually well-served by public transport, they range in size and intensity of use from local neighbourhood strip shopping centres to universities and major regional shopping malls.

Activity centre plans define places which vary in scale, composition and character and include a combination of activities such as offices, retail, higher-density housing, entertainment, civic, community, education and medical services. They are applied in addition to the requirements of the Local Planning Scheme.
