The City of Canning is undertaking improvement works on Pinetree Gully Road between Burrendah Boulevard and Agincourt Drive. Some work has already been completed, with the remaining work to be completed during the January 2020 school holiday period.

What work is happening?

The project will involve the construction of dedicated bus bays, upgraded pedestrian crossings, traffic calming devices and new footpaths. The road rehabilitation and resurfacing aspects are already complete.

Why is the work happening?

This work will improve the road environment, making it safer for pedestrians and road users.

What work is being undertaken?

The work involves construction of new bus bays, improved pedestrian crossings with traffic calming devices and new footpaths. This will include:

  • installation of new drainage infrastructure
  • removal of existing footpath and kerb
  • construction of new bus bays
  • new footpath

  • new kerbing, islands, pedestrian crossings

  • new line marking and signage

How will the work impact road users?

While work is being undertaken, Pinetree Gully Road will require closures between Burrendah Boulevard and Agincourt Drive. Detours will be in place while the road is closed. Southlands Shopping Centre will remain accessible from Burrendah Boulevard and Agincourt Drive. Generally work will be undertaken Monday to Saturday between the hours of 7am and 4pm.

Who will be undertaking the work?

All work will be performed by the City of Canning Project Construction team and our contractors.

When is the project expected to start?

Work is planned to commence Monday 6 January 2020.

How long is the project expected to last?

Work will be completed prior to school returning for Term 1 2020 (Monday 3 February 2020).

How will the work impact on pedestrians?

Due to the nature of the works, footpaths will require closure while the works are undertaken. Works will be staged such that at least one path will be open, and pedestrians will be redirected as required.

What about bus stops?

Some bus stops at times may be closed. The City will liaise with the PTA regarding bus stops and if any closures are required these will be sign posted in advance on the impacted bus stop. All bus stops will have new concrete landings constructed.
