FAQs:

What is happening on Banksia Esplanade?

Due to safety concerns, the right turning pocket from Ranford Road into Banksia Esplanade in Canning Vale will be permanently closed and these works will be carried out in January, 2021.

Why is the right turning pocket from Ranford Road into Banksia Esplanade being closed?

Due to traffic congestion, and vehicles illegally using the bus lane to avoid traffic lights further down on Ranford Road at peak times, a number of accidents have occurred at this intersection in the past.

A number of local residents had raised concerns about this, and as a result, the City had the intersection closed temporarily for a 24-month period.
There have been so serious incidents recorded at this location since the closure.

During this time, traffic management devices were deployed to ensure the closure would be both effective at addressing the issues that were being experienced and that this activity would not unduly impact other residents.

This City is now confident both of the above have been satisfied and will move forward with the formalised closure.
