Electrify Everything
Electrify Everything
A third of Australian households are already enjoying the benefits of going electric for their heating, cooking, water heating and transport needs.
Electrifying your home is a safe, healthy and environmentally friendly choice. As more and more renewables join the grid, electricity is becoming cleaner to use. Changing the ways our homes use energy doesn’t need to happen overnight, but it’s time to think about when a suitable opportunity might be.
Make a plan so that you’re ready to replace appliances and vehicles with efficient electric ones when the time is right.
Five actions to electrify your home
- Harness the sun with solar and battery for renewable and cost-effective energy. If you’re unable to do this, you can still support renewable energy by asking your electricity provider for their GreenPower offer.
- Use the free SunSPOT solar calculator to find out what size system you need, and request at least three quotes from New Energy Tech Approved Sellers.
- Apply for the City’s Rooftop Solar Rebate and check out discounts from Switch Your Thinking.

- Heating and cooling your home accounts for 40% of your energy use. Upgrading to a more efficient system can significantly reduce your energy bills.
- Install Direct Current (DC) ceiling fans. Most now have a reverse function that can be used to better circulate warm air from a heater. Check out discounts from Switch Your Thinking.
- Install a reverse cycle / split system air-conditioner. Research shows that this is the most energy efficient way to heat and cool your home.

- Electric Vehicles (EVs) can reduce your household emissions and are cheap to run, especially if you charge from 100% renewable energy. Electric Bicycles (Ebikes) are a great way to beat the traffic and avoid parking hassles.
