City of Canning residents can claim rebates on the purchase of solar panels, reusable nappies, reusable sanitary items, reusable incontinence products, composting and worm farming equipment,as well as repair services for furniture and household items, electronic appliances, textiles and footwear. All rebates are provided to help make it more affordable to go green. Sustainable products and services may cost a little more up-front, but in the long term they can save you – and the planet – much more.
To be eligible to apply for a rebate you must:
- Be aged 18 years or over.
- Live within the City of Canning local government area (residential only e.g. tenants and owner occupiers can apply, but businesses and their employees are not eligible at this time).
- Include all the attachments and required information in the application.
For the Rooftop Solar Rebate:
- Apartment blocks are not eligible.
- Landlords are eligible to apply for solar installation on rental properties located within the City of Canning.
- For all rebates (except the rooftop solar rebate), the City accepts multiple applications per household, up to the maximum lifetime limit for each rebate category. Lifetime limits do not reset each financial year.
- Your sustainable product or service must have been purchased, installed, or completed during the same financial year in which you apply for a rebate. For example, purchases, services or installations completed between 1 June 2026 – 30 June 2027 are eligible for rebates provided in the 2026/2027 financial year. Please note: eligible dates change with each new financial year.
- Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the rebate budget for the financial year has been fully allocated, no further applications within the financial year timeframe will be approved.
- Future rebate rounds are not guaranteed. If additional rounds are offered, only purchases or services completed during that financial year will be eligible.
- Rebate eligibility and lifetime limits apply to your entire household at your primary residence. If you live at more than one property within the City of Canning, you cannot claim separate rebates for each property. If more than one person in your household applies, the household's rebate limits apply collectively.

- Solar panels must be installed for the first time. Your application will not be accepted if there are existing/previous solar panels at the address associated with your application, you are adding to existing panels, or you are replacing under-performing, faulty or broken solar panels or invertors.
- A valid concession card in the name of the applicant must be attached (only if applying for the concession rebate)
- Solar hot water systems or solar pool heating systems are NOT eligible
- Solar PV arrays must be provided by a New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) Approved Seller.
- Solar PV arrays must be installed by an installer accredited under Solar Accreditation Australia. The accreditation number is required.
- Applicant name must match the name on ALL supporting documentation
- Applicants who are owners must attach a Rates Notice or Title Deed as their proof of residence. Tenants may attach a current driver’s licence or utility bill.
- Applicants who are tenants must provide a letter of consent from the landlord

- Rebate: $500, or $700 for concession card holders.
- Eligible items include: compost bins, compost tumblers, aerators, waste fermentation systems for example Bokashi, including fermentation mix, worm farms, worm tubes, composting worms and chickens. Find out which composting system is right for you.
- To keep poultry you must comply with the City’s Animal, Nuisance and Environment Local Law 2021.
- Rebate: 50% of the purchase price with a maximum rebate of $60.
- The rebate has a lifetime cap of $60 (not an annual limit). This rebate can be claimed multiple times, up to a maximum combined total of $60. Once the total rebate amount claimed reaches $60, no further claims will be eligible.
- Eligible items include: reusable sanitary pads, menstrual cups and discs, period underwear, period swimwear and wet bags.
- Rebate: 50% of the purchase price with a maximum rebate of $50.
- The rebate has a lifetime cap of $50 (not an annual limit). This rebate can be claimed multiple times, up to a maximum combined total of $50. Once the total rebate amount claimed reaches $50, no further claims will be eligible.
- Eligible items include: reusable incontinence underwear, wet bags and pelvic floor physiotherapy to treat incontinence.
- Rebate: 50% of the purchase price with a maximum rebate of $100.
- The rebate has a lifetime cap of $100 (not an annual limit). This rebate can be claimed multiple times, up to a maximum combined total of $100. Once the total rebate amount claimed reaches $100, no further claims will be eligible.
- Eligible items include: the purchase or hire of reusable cloth and swim nappies, reusable inner liners for nappies, reusable wipes, pilchers, wet bags, elimination communication supports ((including: couching, courses, books, training underwear, waterproof matts, top hat and mini potties) )and reusable nursing breast pads.
- Rebate: 50% of the purchase price with a maximum rebate of $100.
- The rebate has a lifetime cap of $100 (not an annual limit). This rebate can be claimed multiple times, up to a maximum combined total of $100. Once the total rebate amount claimed reaches $100, no further claims will be eligible.
- Eligible services include: repair services for household furniture and items such as tables, chairs, sofas, freestanding cabinets, freestanding bookcases, bikes, musical instruments and jewellery. Excludes built-in household fixtures, cars and parts for DIY repairs.
- Rebate: 50% of the purchase price with a maximum rebate of $100.
- The rebate has a lifetime cap of $100 (not an annual limit). This rebate can be claimed multiple times, up to a maximum combined total of $100. Once the total rebate amount claimed reaches $100, no further claims will be eligible.
- This map includes local furniture repair services. You do not need to use a business included on the map to be eligible for a rebate.
- Eligible services include: repair services for domestic electronic appliances such as mobile phones, computers and tablets, televisions, audio/visual equipment, vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, hair dryers, watches and white goods (e.g., refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers). Excludes household fixtures or built-in appliances, cars and parts for DIY repairs.
- Rebate: 50% of the purchase price with a maximum rebate of $100.
- The rebate has a lifetime cap of $100 (not an annual limit). This rebate can be claimed multiple times, up to a maximum combined total of $100. Once the total rebate amount claimed reaches $100, no further claims will be eligible.
- This map includes local electronic appliance repair services. You do not need to use a business included on the map to be eligible for a rebate.
- Eligible services include: repair services for clothing and other domestic textiles like sleeping bags and linen. Excludes fixed textile installations such as carpets, and parts for DIY repairs.
- Rebate: 50% of the purchase price with a maximum rebate of $100.
- The rebate has a lifetime cap of $100 (not an annual limit). This rebate can be claimed multiple times, up to a maximum combined total of $100. Once the total rebate amount claimed reaches $100, no further claims will be eligible.
- This map includes local textile repair services. You do not need to use a business included on the map to be eligible for a rebate.
- Eligible services include: repair services for all types of footwear, including shoes, boots, and sandals. Excludes parts for DIY repairs.
- Rebate: 50% of the purchase price with a maximum rebate of $100.
- The rebate has a lifetime cap of $100 (not an annual limit). This rebate can be claimed multiple times, up to a maximum combined total of $100. Once the total rebate amount claimed reaches $100, no further claims will be eligible.
- This map includes local footwear repair services. You do not need to use a business included on the map to be eligible for a rebate.

Proof of residence in the form of one of the following:
- Rates notice from the past 12 months (must be provided if applying for the rooftop solar rebate as the owner of the property).
- Utility bill from the past 12 months.
- A current driver’s license.
Solar Rebate Only:
- Most recent electricity bill
- Small-Scale Technology Assignment Form (SCT) or Electrical Safety Certificate
- At least 2 photos of your solar PV array
- Letter of consent from landlord (if you are a tenant).
- Valid concession card (if applying for a solar concession rebate).

If an applicant does not have computer or mobile phone access, applications can be completed by a carer, family member or with customer service staff at the City of Canning Civic Centre, 1317 Albany Highway, Cannington. Please note, copies of proof of purchase and residence and bank account details will still need to be provided. Alternatively, please call on 1300 422 664 to make other arrangements.
Application process

Review the Eligibility Criteria for your chosen rebate item. To be eligible to receive a rebate, your sustainable product or service must have been purchased, installed or undertaken from 1 July 2026. - Purchase and install your sustainable product
Purchase your sustainable product or service from your chosen provider or installer. Ensure that your purchase meets the Eligibility Criteria for your chosen rebate item. - Submit an Application Form
Submit an Application Form and required attachments. Click ‘Apply Now’ to submit an application form. - Receive your sustainability rebate
If your form is approved by the City, you will receive your rebate via electronic bank transfer from Rebately. Be sure to check your junk mailbox for your rebate approval email. Add claims@rebately.co to your email contacts to ensure you receive your claim status updates.
- Payment of a rebate is not guaranteed and is subject to the approval and availability of rebate funding. Applicants will be advised in writing whether their rebate application has been successful.
- Payment of successful rebate applications will be made via electronic transfer to the applicants nominated bank account within four weeks of notification of a successful application.
Once funding for the City of Canning Rebates Program is exhausted, the City will not provide any further rebates and will not accept new applications.
GENERAL
These terms and conditions apply to the City of Canning Rebates Program.
By applying for a rebate, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If your application does not comply with these terms and conditions, it will not be valid and will not be accepted or assessed.
It is important to read these terms and conditions in conjunction with any relevant information provided by City of Canning (the City) in relation to the City of Canning Eco Rebates Program.
The City, applicants and product providers will attempt in good faith to resolve via negotiations any dispute or claim arising out of or in relation to rebates and these guidelines.
The City reserves the right to change these terms and conditions or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the City of Canning Eco Rebates Program at any time.
The City of Canning holds no responsibility for following up missing information supplied by the applicant.
The City of Canning holds the right to approve or reject any application at its discretion.
City staff and Elected Members are eligible to receive Rebates if they comply with the Terms and Conditions. Applicants who are City staff or Elected Members, will be required to disclose this on their Application and cannot be involved in the assessment of their Application.
REBATES
The City will review each application to determine eligibility for a rebate. Rebately will notify applicants of the outcome of their application via email within 5 to 10 business days of receiving a submission.
DATA AND REPORTING
The City uses Rebately Pty Ltd, a managed service provider, to provide the rebates administration platform. The City will not share applicant information with any organisation other than Rebately, for the purposes of directly administering the application, assessment and awarding of the rebates.
Applicants must agree to the City using personal information submitted via the application for the purpose of evaluating eligibility to receive a rebate.
Applicants must agree to the City collecting data on the products for which Rebates are approved for purposes of reporting and performance of the City of Canning Eco Rebates Program. This data will be anonymised and no identifying information will be reported.
All City held information will be stored on the City’s electronic records management system and is subject to Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and associated regulations. The City will not store any financial data but may store responses to surveys and contact information for feedback about the program.

LIABILITY
Applicants participate in the City of Canning Eco Rebates Program of their own volition and at their own risk. The City accepts no liability for any claim for loss, damage, harm or expenses which arise as a consequence of participation in the rebate program, purchase or installation or use of any products for which rebates are obtained, or use of electricity that is the subject of any products for which rebates are obtained.
Any issues which occur due to the purchasing and use of any products for which rebates are obtained must be resolved between the Applicant and the product provider based on the advertised warranties and standard service provision of the products involved.
Applicants are solely responsible for ensuring that any products for which rebates are obtained are maintained in a suitable working condition.
