Maniana Park Construction: Transforming Community Spaces for a Brighter Future

The City of Canning has secured $5.3 million in grant funding from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, and the Arts through the Priority Community Infrastructure Programme. This substantial contribution from the Federal Government, together with funding from WA Cricket and support from the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund, marks a significant milestone towards bringing the Maniana Park masterplan to life.

Alongside the City of Canning’s commitment, we are moving forward with the transformation of Maniana Park into a vibrant recreational and sporting hub, situated adjacent to the impressive Sam Kerr Football Centre.

Project Milestones and Community Engagement

In September 2024, the Council approved the construction tender awarded to Phase 3 Landscape Construction. Following this milestone, construction commenced in January 2025 and is almost complete.

Community engagement has been central to shaping this masterplan, ensuring that the open space aligns with local aspirations while preserving and enhancing the natural environment. Through collaboration with residents and stakeholders, we have developed a plan that combines recreational spaces, sporting facilities, and environmental features to benefit the local and regional communities for years to come.

It's almost time to play!

The official opening of Maniana Park is scheduled for Thursday, 2 October 2025. The space is on track to become a key destination for sport, recreation, and community engagement.

Together with the nearby Sam Kerr Football Centre, this revitalised area will support a healthier, more connected community. We thank our stakeholders and the local community for their ongoing support as we continue this transformative journey.
