Payment Methods
The City of Canning has plenty of options available to help you with paying your rates.
Pay online via credit or debit card
You can pay your rates online with your credit or debit card (Visa and Mastercard only) with our secure online payment form.
Information for online ratepayers
When paying your rates, please include the outstanding amount on your rates notice in the Amount to Pay section (highlighted in red box).
The Total Amount Payable field is the interest automatically applied to your outstanding balance.
Alternative payment methods
You can pay using BPay through your online banking account.

Reference: (your reference number)
Your 17 digit reference number can be found in the payment methods section of your rates notice.
You can pay by direct debit from your nominated cheque or savings account.
You can also pay the direct debit weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
To request direct debit be set-up, please complete the payment arrangement request form.
You can pay your rates over the phone with your credit or debit card (Visa and Mastercard only).
Before you call
- Have your 17-digit payment reference ready as you will need to enter it. Please note – the automated phone message will request a 6-digit number, however you must use your 17-digit payment reference. Using the 6-digit assessment number will not work.
Please call the City of Canning on 1300 963 103 to make a payment.
You can pay in person at the City of Canning Administration Centre:
- Address: 1317 Albany Highway, Cannington, Western Australia, 6107
- Office hours: 8.15am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)
We accept payment by credit or debit card (Visa and Mastercard only).
Cash payments can be made at your local Australia Post office.
The City of Canning is now cashless and do not accept cash payments at any City facility.
Payment due dates
The City offers the following options for your rates payment:
- Option One: Upfront and in-full payment by 9 September 2026.
- Option Two: Four instalments (a one off instalment fee of $19.98 applies):
- Instalment 1 – Due 9 September 2026
- Instalment 2 – Due 13 November 2026
- Instalment 3 – Due 15 January 2027
- Instalment 4 – Due 19 March 2027
Interest at the rate of 7% per annum calculated daily will accrue on all overdue rates and charges. The Emergency Services Levy (ESL) penalty interest rate has been declared at 11% per annum.
Rates payment reference number
Please double-check your rates payment reference number before finalising your rates payment.
Payment reference numbers are a 17-digit number. This reference number is located at the bottom of your notice.
