Partner Organisations
The City partners with Canning volunteer organisations to support recruitment activities.
This helps organisations continue to meet the needs of our vulnerable communities. Current partnerships include:
Vinnies Emergency Assistance Call Centre
Vinnies is a volunteer-run organisation which assists more than 55,000 Western Australians.
Vinnies have an Emergency Assistance Call Centre in Canning Vale. The call centre is a community service which connects people with the support they need. Our volunteers can work within the call centre and gain experience in supporting the community.
If you are interested in working with Vinnies, visit the Vinnies website or call 6323 7500.
EdConnect Australia
EdConnect Australia volunteers provide support to students in local schools. City volunteers can spend 1-2 hours a week within classrooms helping children learn.
EdConnect provides:
- Learning support – volunteers spend time listening to children read and helping in the classroom. They may also provide support to children for whom English is a second language. A love of reading, learning, and patience are the only requirements.
- Mentoring – volunteers provide one-on-one support, guidance, and encouragement to students. This could involve working on school projects together, playing games, and chatting. A minimum commitment of 12 months required.
Volunteers could also work at breakfast clubs, homework clubs, school canteens and more.
To learn more, visit the EdConnect website or call on 1800 668 550.
