Heatwaves are Australia’s deadliest environmental disaster.
For many people, heatwaves don’t look like a carefree summer’s day – they look like struggling to afford to run air-conditioning, sleepless nights, sweltering homes and unsafe workplaces that make staying cool feel impossible.
If you’re interested in volunteering your time to connect with your local community about heat, this is a great opportunity for you.
Register for one of these online sessions:
- 21 January, 2pm - 3.30pm (Phone banking)
- 28 January 3pm - 4.30pm (Phone banking)
- 29 January, 3pm - 4pm (Text banking)
- 3 February, 3pm - 4:30pm (Phone banking)
This summer, Sweltering Cities need help calling and texting the hundreds of people who have done the Summer Survey and want to hear more about how they can make their communities heat resilient.
Join an online session to help make phone calls or text messages (online, without using your own mobile number) measure impact, and connect with each other to share the ways in which our communities talk about heat.
Once you register, you will receive an email invitation to the online system and instructions on how to use it. Ensure that you are able to log in before the Textbanking session.
