What is The Adaptation Game?

The Adaptation Game, also known as TAG, is a table-top game that shows what the future impacts of climate change might look like in the local Canning area. You create story lines relevant to yourself and your family, that reflect climate change impacts.

This allows you to think about what you already do to reduce the impact of climate change in your life, while also considering other actions that you could look at down the track.

By playing TAG, you are gaining awareness about what climate change will look like locally, and can help your family and community to reduce the effects of climate change into the future.

If you would like to know more about TAG, watch this video from Merri-bek City Council game participants to hear about their experience.

What are we doing:

We are organising a Come and Try event to give you the opportunity to have a go and see what TAG is all about. This event will be a shortened TAG experience, designed to create awareness and interest in the community.

Register here. Note: places are limited!

Details:

  • When: Saturday 7th June, 10am – 1pm
  • Where: Whaleback Golf Course – Function Room
  • What: TAG is played with 4 players and 1 facilitator. We will have two tables and can accommodate 8 players in total. Game play will be for about 2 hours at this event, which will give time to run through a couple of climate change events. We also have 8 tickets available for people to observe the game play.
  • Why: You can experience TAG and understand what it involves. You might like to volunteer to help deliver TAG games in your community, or to suggest ideas for how we can run TAG events.
