City of Canning Offers Up to $400 in Rebates for Home Security Upgrades
The City of Canning is pleased to launch Round 7 of its popular Security Incentive Scheme, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to creating safer neighbourhoods and supporting local residents in protecting their homes.
The scheme offers rebates of up to $400 for eligible residents who install approved home security measures, including CCTV, alarms, sensor lights and security screens.
Mayor Patrick Hall said the program is an important investment in both safety and peace of mind. “We want every Canning resident to feel safe in their home,” Mayor Hall said.
“Whether you live alone, have a young family, or are enjoying your retirement - feeling secure should never be a luxury. This scheme gives people a practical way to take control of their home security, with support from the City.”
In Round 6 of the Security Incentive Scheme, the City issued rebates on over 1,200 home security items. Self-installed security cameras and video doorbells were the most popular security item purchased in round 6, with over 377 installed across Canning.
The full evaluation report for Round 6 is now available on the City’s website – head to here to take a read. The Mayor also encouraged residents to act early to avoid missing out.
“This program has been extremely popular in the past. With limited funding available, I urge residents to apply as soon as possible,” he said.
“It’s a simple, effective way to increase protection for your property, and every small upgrade contributes to a safer, more connected community.”
Round 7 of the Security Incentive Scheme opened Monday 18 August 2025 and will run until 30 June 2026, or until funds are fully expended. Rebates are offered on a first come, first served basis.
To be eligible, purchases must be made on or after 13 May 2025, and any hard-wired devices (like sensor lights) must be installed by a licensed electrician. Residents who access this Scheme are also eligible to apply for the State Safety and Security Rebate, which is available to WA Seniors Card members.
