New City of Canning Program Offers Free Graffiti Removal for Residents and Businesses.
The City of Canning has launched a new initiative to combat graffiti vandalism, revitalise local spaces, and foster safer, more connected neighbourhoods.
The Urban Art and Graffiti Intervention Program, running from August 2025 to July 2026, is a community-focused strategy designed to reduce the impact of graffiti through a combination of removal, prevention, education, and youth engagement.
At the core of the initiative is the Graffiti Removal Incentive Program, which provides free professional graffiti removal services and prevention support to eligible residential and commercial property owners across the City. Delivered in partnership with Kleenit, the program helps restore pride in local streets, reduce repeat vandalism, and remove the financial burden that often prevents swift action.
“Graffiti can have a real impact on how people feel about their neighbourhood,” said Mayor Patrick Hall. “This program is about empowering our community to take back their streets and showing that we’re committed to creating clean, safe and welcoming spaces for everyone.”
The program includes:
- Free professional graffiti removal for eligible private residential and business properties
- A prevention toolkit with instructions, tips, and strategies to deter future incidents
- Support available from 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026, or until funds are expended
- Ongoing guidance on how to report graffiti quickly and effectively
- Direct support available via safecommunities@canning.wa.gov.au
Residents are encouraged to report graffiti through the following links:

- Private property: submission.police.wa.gov.au/report_graffiti
Mayor Hall emphasised the importance of community collaboration:
“We can’t do this alone - this program is about working with our residents and businesses. By reporting graffiti and accessing the support available, locals can play a direct role in improving their streets and strengthening community pride.”
In addition to graffiti removal services, the Urban Art and Graffiti Intervention Program includes two six-week urban art workshops for young people in Bentley and Cannington. Led by local artist and youth art therapist Olivia Robinson, the workshops will result in large-scale murals transforming known graffiti hotspots into vibrant public artworks.
The program also features interactive school-based theatre sessions delivered by the Constable Care Foundation, using performance to educate students on the consequences of graffiti and promote positive decision-making.
“This initiative not only cleans up vandalism, it actively supports young people in more creative and constructive ways,” added Mayor Hall. “It’s a long-term investment in both our neighbourhoods and our future generations.”
The program is supported by the Department of Justice Criminal Property Confiscation Grants Program.
