Oar-some New Shed for Canning River Canoe Club

The new facility gives the Canning River Canoe Club a modern space for their watercraft, replacing the old building near the Kent Street dog park.
A new washdown area and pathway provides improved access to the river, and fresh landscaping with native plants add to the appeal of the Kent Street Weir precinct.
City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall shared,
“Relocating the canoe shed is an important step in our Council endorsed Kent Street Weir Precinct plan, a place for community, play, and enjoying the river’s natural beauty.”
Members from the Canning River Canoe Club, who last year celebrated their 50th Anniversary, marked the occasion with a busy bee and BBQ lunch in August in preparation of the official ribbon cutting event.
Construction of the new canoe shed started in April 2025 and was completed in July 2025.
