City supports community garden

City of Canning has lent a hand to help local residents establish the Bill Spence Community Garden.

Located on the corner of Herald Avenue and Acanthus Roads in Willetton, this community garden is bringing residents together to share stories, gardening tips, and encourage people to take care of their verges.

A big shout out to Sandy and the gang!

Melaleuca Project

City of Canning partnered with Riverton Primary School, Millennium Kids and Water Corporation to deliver the Melaleuca Project.

Students assisted the City to install new trees in local Water Corporation drains to help increase tree canopy cover, provide much needed habitat and cooling.

To celebrate the project, students created water colour artworks depicting what they felt were important environmental concerns. The watercolour paintings were combined to produce the final artwork.

On display at City facilities during February and March 2026.
