Wisteria Park Officially Opens, Delivering a Vibrant New Space for Community Recreation

The City of Canning proudly announces the completion and official opening of Wisteria Park, a revitalised public open space created to offer enhanced recreational and social opportunities for local residents.
Officially opened on 28 August 2025 by Mayor Patrick Hall and The Hon Hannah Beazley MLA, Minister for Local Government, the City celebrates the completion of this much-anticipated project, which delivers a vibrant new public space designed for all ages and abilities.
The park now features an irrigated turf area suitable for informal sports, a range of play and recreation equipment catering to children of different ages, improved seating and accessible pathways and increased tree planting to enhance the local environment. As part of the project, the City also undertook bushland rehabilitation works, including fencing upgrades and ecological restoration in the adjacent natural area.
Mayor Patrick Hall said, “Wisteria Park is a wonderful addition to our community. It offers a safe and inclusive space where families can gather, children can play, and neighbours can connect. This park reflects the spirit of collaboration between the City and our residents, and I encourage everyone to make the most of this fantastic new resource.”
The Hon Hannah Beazley MLA remarked, “Wisteria Park is a fantastic example of how investing in quality public spaces can bring communities closer together. This revitalised park not only provides a safe and inclusive environment for children and families but also supports active, healthy lifestyles and fosters a strong sense of community. We are proud to support the City of Canning in delivering this much-needed green space that will be enjoyed for generations to come.”
The City of Canning thanks all community members, including local resident Margaret Adams, whose passionate advocacy was vital in turning this vision into reality. The project was supported by $450,000 in funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
Wisteria Park stands as a testament to the City’s ongoing commitment to creating welcoming, vibrant, and thriving neighbourhoods where people feel connected and supported.
Residents are invited to visit the park, explore the new facilities, and enjoy this community space for recreation, relaxation, and social connection.
