Reporting commercial vehicles on private property.
Parking of commercial vehicles in Residential zones, without requiring development approval, are subject to the following provisions of the City's Local Planning Scheme No. 42 (the Scheme):
4.16.3 Commercial vehicle parking in the Residential zone – a person may park a commercial vehicle in the Residential zone subject to the following provisions:
- the lot on which the vehicle is parked contains only a single house, ancillary dwelling and/or associated outbuildings
- notwithstanding point 1, the local government may permit the parking of a commercial vehicle on a grouped dwelling lot, if in the opinion of the local government, the parking of the commercial vehicle is unlikely to adversely affect the amenity of the surrounding area
- the commercial vehicle is to be parked entirely within the lot and located on a hardstand behind the front building line
- the commercial vehicle does not exceed three metres in height, 2.5 metres in width and eight metres in length
- any noise created by the commercial vehicle does not exceed the standards set out in the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997
- only minor servicing or cleaning of the commercial vehicle is carried out behind the front building line
- storage of liquid fuels on the lot complies with the Dangerous Goods Safety Act 2004
- the commercial vehicle is not carrying a refrigeration unit which operates on a continuous or intermittent basis.
The City may approve a variation of the above requirements in certain circumstances.
