Lighting nuisances

The City will investigate security lights, floodlights and artificial lights from private properties that are creating a nuisance.

Under the Local Government Act 1995, the City may serve notice to a resident whereby they are not taking specific measures to prevent artificial or natural light being emitted or reflected from their property which consequently creates a 'nuisance'.

Issues with neighbours

People are sometimes unaware that their activities are causing a problem. The City encourages all residents and business operators to talk to their neighbours about problems before making a complaint. Visit the resolving disputes with neighbours page for more information.
