Appeal an infringement
Processes for appealing a City of Canning issued infringement.
Types of infringements
The City can give out fines for different things, including:
Community Safety infringements:
- animal infringements
- bushfire infringements
- litter infringements
- vehicle/off road infringements
- parking infringements.
Health infringements:
- environmental protection infringements
- food infringements
- asbestos infringements
- tobacco infringements.
Compliance based infringements:
- Canning Local Laws infringements
- building infringements
- planning infringements
- swimming pool infringements
- caravan infringements.
Appeals
To appeal a fine, customers need to have the following information:
- the infringement number on the fine
- name and contact details of the offender, including their email address
- the reason to the appeal fine or request to have the matter heard in Court
- the offender's residential address
- other supporting information such as a statutory declaration.
Vehicle/off road infringements
Please include the make and model of the vehicle in your request.
Community Safety appeal timeframes
For bushfire and off-road vehicle fines, appeals must be made within 21 days from the date of the fine was issued.
For all other Community Safety fines, appeals must be made within 28 days from the date of the fine was issued.
Health and Compliance appeal timeframes
Appeals must be made within 28 days from the date of the fine was issued.
