Lights, Sirens, Action: A Fun and Safe Day Out for Canning Families

Saturday, 11 October 2025 Civic Park Stage - 10am - 1pm
Ever wanted to climb inside a fire truck, meet a police horse up close, or step aboard a real rescue boat? The City of Canning’s Community Safety Expo is back on Saturday 11 October and this year it’s bigger, bolder, and packed with unmissable family fun.
This free event isn’t your average expo, it’s a hands-on adventure where safety meets entertainment.
Families can experience the RAC Rescue helicopter experience, watch Constable Care’s First Aid Heroes puppet show (perfect for Kindy–Year 3), cuddle animals at Old MacDonald’s petting zoo, and even ride in for a free Bike Week check-up with our on-site bike mechanic. Add in face painting, lawn games, Police horses, food and drinks, cooking demos and competitions, and you’ve got the ultimate weekend outing.
And it’s not just for kids. Adults can connect directly with WA Police, DFES, Red Cross, St John Ambulance, Neighbourhood Watch, Disaster Relief Australia, and the City’s own teams in Youth, Community Development, Sustainability and Community Safety.
Whether it’s planning for emergencies, learning about local programs, or meeting the friendly Ranger Buddy, there’s something for everyone.
Mayor Patrick Hall said the Expo highlights the best of community connection while demonstrating the City’s commitment to community safety.
“This Expo is where people come together to learn, share and be empowered. From life-saving skills to practical tips, it’s about providing education and awareness that helps our community actively contribute to a safer Canning.”
He added that the event is designed to be as memorable as it is meaningful. “Whether it’s climbing into a fire truck or meeting frontline services face-to-face, the Expo is about creating spaces that feel safe, inclusive and welcoming while showing how thoughtful design and engagement can help reduce opportunistic crime.”
The Mayor said the Expo also reflects the strength of partnerships across the City.
“This event is only possible through the collaboration of our emergency services, community groups and local organisations. By fostering and maintaining these partnerships, we can deliver community safety outcomes that make a real difference for everyone in Canning.”
Of course, no community event would be complete without plenty of food and drink. Residents can fuel up with coffee, food trucks and ice cream, while enjoying a relaxed, market-style atmosphere.
And here’s the kicker: the first 100 people through the gates who complete our Community Safety Survey will receive a FREE goodie bag – packed with useful items to enhance the Expo experience.
With so much to see and do, the 2025 Community Safety Expo is set to be one of Canning’s most exciting family events of the year.
