Young People recognised for their sporting, academic and artistic achievements may be assisted with the costs of travel to represent Western Australia.


This grant round remains open all year.

Eligible applicants will be 25 or under at the start of the activity, live in Canning and be invited to represent WA in a recognised event run by a peak body. Applicants may apply once each financial year prior to the event.

Eligible activities:
•        Sport: competitions where there is a competitive selection process.
•        Recreation, Arts and Academic achievement: Competitions and activities where there is a competitive selection process. 

The grant allocations are as follows:
•        Attendance within WA (exc. Perth)         up to $100.00 (exc. GST) / young person*
•        Attendance Interstate                             up to $300.00 (exc. GST) / young person*
•        Attendance Overseas                             up to $500.00 (exc. GST) / young person*

*Or matching the cash contribution of the parent or guardian, whichever is less.

Payments are made upon approval of the Acquittal Form. The Grant will lapse if the Acquittal Form is not provided by the 5 June 2020 at the very latest. 

Applications submitted mid June - mid August 2020  will be held on file and reviewed after Council approves the 2020-2021 budget.
