Recruitment Processes

To participate in our Volunteer Program volunteers require current screening documents and completed recruitment forms prior to commencement.

Applying

To apply to become a City of Canning volunteer, visit the Volunteering Opportunities page.

Screening

Volunteer National Police Check

The City can arrange for a volunteer to be sent a link to complete an online application for a Volunteer National Police Certificate (VNPC). Volunteers require an Australian mobile number to complete an online application.

The City covers the cost of the application and can view a volunteers certificate online. As per the City’s legal obligations, a copy of a volunteers VNPC is not retained. Volunteers can view and download their certificate online.

Volunteers who are not able to complete an online application can be supported by the City’s Volunteer Officer to complete a manual application.

Working with Children Check

Prior to commencement all volunteers involved in child related volunteering require a current Working with Children Check (WWC Check). Volunteers will be supported to apply for a WWC Check at a minimal cost.

Recruitment forms

We ask all volunteers to complete these forms before commencing with us:

  • Volunteer Application and Agreement form
  • Photography consent form for those who are happy for us to share their volunteering story through our communications platforms, like Facebook and newsletters.

These forms will be provided following your screening checks.

Support

A Volunteer Handbook informs volunteers of their rights and responsibilities in line with industry and City standards. This handbook will be provided with the recruitment forms.

Our Community Development Officer Volunteering can provide one on one support to complete recruitment processes. For support, please email volunteer.enquiries@canning.wa.gov.au
