The City of Canning is celebrating New Year’s Day 2024 with a bang at Shelley Beach foreshore with the annual concert and fireworks display.

On Monday 1 January Shelley Beach foreshore will come to life to celebrate the beginning of 2024, with the picturesque Canning River providing the perfect backdrop for an afternoon and evening that promises to deliver entertainment and lots of fun for all.

The free to enter event commences at 3.30pm and will feature some fantastic stage performances from Slim Jim & The Phatts and Darren Reid & the Soul City Groove.

There’ll also be lots of activities to keep the whole family entertained including kid’s inflatables featuring a giant double water slide and bouncy castle, face painting, crafts, mermaid meet and greet, and the Freedom Fairies.

The fireworks display will conclude the evening with the fireworks show running for approximately 15 minutes, from 8pm – 8.15pm.

Mayor Patrick Hall said this event is a safe and inclusive, family-day style event which allows community members to come together and celebrate the new year.

“We are looking forward to celebrating the beginning of 2024 with the Canning Community.

“Last year’s event was a huge success with over 6000 people in attendance and this year we are expecting it to be bigger and better with even more entertainment and food trucks,” Mayor Hall said.

Community members can bring a rug and picnic, there will also be over 20 food trucks featuring a diverse range of cuisines, with food and refreshments available for purchase.

There will be free onsite parking however as parking is limited, people are encouraged to carpool or take public transport, or walk or ride a bike where possible.

This year’s event will also operate a shuttlebus from an offsite carpark at Centenary Park, Wilson. Road closures will be in place around the immediate event site.
